List of medical colleges in KPK

Most of the public sector and private sector medical colleges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are affiliated with Khyber Medical University, one of the most prestigious medical institutions in Pakistan that is ranked among top ten medical universities of the country according to HEC. This article enlists all the private and government sector medical colleges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.


Government sector medical colleges:


All the government sector medical colleges are affiliated with Khyber Medical University. The admission is granted on merit basis and ETEA test is necessary for admission. The public sector/government sector medical colleges all over KPK are given as follows:

1. Khyber Medical College, Peshawar:


Situated in Peshawar, Khyber medical college has the highest merit among all the medical colleges of Peshawar. This college enrolls 287 students yearly and is affiliated with Peshawar University. It is one of the oldest medical institutes of the province and can be called as the mother institute for the rest of medical and dental colleges across the province.

2. Khyber Girls Medical College Peshawar:


Khyber Girls Medical College is the first Public Sector Medical College for girls in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which came into existence in 2004. Hayatabad Medical Complex is the Teaching Hospital of the college. KGMC was recognized by PMDC in 2008 for MBBS Degree and in 2011 for Post Graduation.

3. Ayub Medical College, Abbottabad:


Situated in the beautiful city of Abbottabad, this medical college was established in 1978. The DHQ Hospital Abbottabad remained affiliated to Ayub Medical College for teaching for a period of 18 years. Now all the clinical departments have shifted to the newly constructed buildings of Ayub Teaching Hospital. Ayub Medical college also has a college of dentistry for BDS classes.

4. Bacha Khan Medical College, Mardan:


Bacha Khan medical college was founded in 2010 in Mardan city. Mardan Medical Complex is the affiliated teaching hospital of the medical college. The college also has a dental section for BDS courses. Admitting capacity of the college is 59 in MBBS and 25 in BDS courses.

5. Bannu Medical College, Bannu:


Bannu Medical College was established in the year 2006 in Bannu city. The college enrolls 100 students each session. The teaching faculty of the college is composed of 80 members. BMC, Bannu has been recognized by PMDC in 2011 and is affiliated with Khyber Medical University Peshawar.

6. Gajju Khan Medical College, Swabi:


Gajju Khan Medical College is named after the late great Pakhtun leader Gajju Khan (1490-1565). This medical college was established in the year 2014 in Swabi District. It is affiliated with Khyber Medical University and registered with PMDC.

7. Gomal Medical College:


Gomal medical college is situated in D.I.Khan, KPK. This medical college is affiliated with Khyber medical university and registered with PMDC. Mufti Mehmood memorial teaching hospital and DHQ teaching hospital is affiliated with this college as the teaching hospital.

8. Nowshera Medical College, Nowshera:


Nowshehra medical college was established in the year 2016 in Nowshehra. Nowshera Medical & Teaching Institute is providing services under the MTI rules and regulation and have a Board of Governors for all the necessary decisions for time to time.

9. Saidu Medical College Swat


It is a public sector medical college situated in Swat and was established in the year 1998. This college is accredited for postgraduate training with College of Physician and Surgeons Pakistan and is recognized by PMDC. The college is presently affiliated with Khyber Medical University Peshawar.

Private:



1. Jinnah Medical College, Peshawar:


Jinnah Medical College was established in 2002. It was recognized by the PMDC in 2009. It is affiliated with Khyber Medical University, Peshawar.


2. Pak International Medical College, Peshawar:


The College was established in 2009. Pak International Medical College is recognized by Pakistan Medical and Dental Council and is affiliated with Khyber Medical University, Peshawar.


3. Frontier Medical College, Abbottabad:


Frontier Medical College is one of the several medical schools affiliated to Bahria University. Located in Abbottabad of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan, It was founded in 1995 as the first private medical institute in KPK and second private medical school in Pakistan.


4. Kabir Medical College, Peshawar:


Kabir Medical College was established in the private sector, in 1995 at Peshawar. It comprises of basic sciences department and Clinical Sciences Department. Annual intake is 50 students.


5. Women Medical College, Abbottabad:


Women Medical College Abbottabad enjoys the honor of being the first ever private sector medical college established exclusively for Women in Pakistan. Founded in 1999, WMC is located at one of the most serene cities of Pakistan Abbottabad.


6. Peshawar Medical College, Peshawar:


The college is owned by PRIME Foundation-a federally registered organization. For the clinical training of Medical and Dental Students PRIME Foundation has three teaching Hospital; Kuwait Teaching Hospital, Mercy Teaching Hospital, and PRIME Teaching Hospital.


7. Rehman Medical College, Peshawar:


Rehman Medical College was developed as part of the objectives of Rehman Medical Institute. RMC hospital is the teaching hospital of Rehman medical college. The college is approved by PMDC for MBBS and is affiliated with Khyber Medical University, Peshawar.


 

Others:


The candidates having domicile of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa can also apply on reserved seats in medical institutes of other provinces which are enlisted below:


1. Agha Khan medical university:


Admission in AKU is based on individual merit with no discrimination for gender or religion. Students can apply from anywhere in the country and there are no reserved seats, quotas, or admissions against donations. So, the students having domicile of KPK can also appear for Agha Khan university entrance test and apply for admission afterward. 


2. FMDC:


There are nine reserved seats for candidates belonging to KPK and the admission is granted on the basis of individual merit. Candidates can also apply for the six open merit seats for which candidates from all around the country can apply.
