Federal Medical and Dental College (FM&DC), Islamabad is the first public-sector medical college in Islamabad. The College is affiliated with Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University, Islamabad. Pakistan. Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) is the main affiliated hospital.
-The number of seats:
The college was initially awarded recognition for the degree of MBBS for 50 seats only. However, subsequently, this award was enhanced to 100 seats after due completion of PM&DC rules & regulations. The institute caters students from all over Pakistan, with seats reserved for all the provinces as per approved government quota.
-Distribution of seats:
The distribution of seats is as follows Open Merit: 06 Punjab: 38 Sindh Rural: 09 Sindh Urban: 06 KPK: 09 Balochistan: 05 Gilgit Baltistan: 02 FATA: 02 Azad Jammu Kashmir: 02 Islamabad City: 10 Federal Government Employee: 09 Disabled Quota: 02 Currently, five batches of 500 MBBS students have been admitted to the College.
-Eligibility criterion:
1. The Candidates having domicile of all over Pakistan can appear for the test.
2. The candidate must have passed the Intermediate Science Examination (Pre-Medical Group) or Equivalent securing at least 70% marks.
-The criterion for admission: Admission is purely merit-based and the aggregate for admission is calculated through the following formula:
The FMDC MBBS admission test is conducted by Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto medical university this year. Last year's entry test was conducted by NUMS. The test will be conducted on 25th of August 2019 at 10:00 AM sharp in Islamabad.
However because the date coincides with the respective entry tests of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, students having domicile of these provinces can apply for the provincial quota seats in FMDC on the basis of their score in MDCAT and ETEA respectively as announced by the PMDC.
-Registration:
The registrations for the test are open right now. Students can register themselves online at the official website of SZABMU, the link for which is given as follows.
The entry test consists of 200 multiple choice questions, each question carrying one mark. So the total marks of the test are 200, which are divided as follows: Biology: 80 Chemistry: 60 Physics: 40 English 20
There's no negative marking in the test. Passing marks are 60% (120/200).
-Total time for the test: The total time allocated for the test is two hours and thirty minutes (150 minutes).
-Syllabus for the test: Unlike previous times, a proper syllabus has been defined for this year's entry test and is available on the official website of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University. The link for the syllabus is given as follows:
Note that the syllabus is almost the same as that of MDCAT.
-Last year’s closing merit: The closing merit for the year 2017-18 has been given below for different quotas. Have a look at them in order to have an idea about how much score you’ll need in the test for getting admission.
