Shafqat Mehmood, the Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training has been making students really happy during the pandemic; the holidays, exam privileges, and more. The good thing is that he hasn’t stopped even now. There’s another happy news from Shafqat Uncle but this time, it’s a proud one for the whole country!

The education system of Pakistan has been facing a lot of downfalls and ultimately, it’s been causing an economic and industrial loss to the country. A poor education system results in individuals with poorer skills which eventually means not enough skills to join a company as an employee or start one.

People have been facing issues such as not getting a job because all they have is incomplete knowledge because of the lack of skill development. Maybe someone from your relatives is affected by this.

Shafqat Mehmood, on the other hand, took this problem too seriously and in the three-day Vice Chancellors’ Committee meeting in Bhurban on 29 October 2021 (Friday), he persuaded the Vice-Chancellors of universities to focus on skill development along with transferring proper knowledge just so YOU could be completely prepared both for the national and international market.

This fate-changing meeting was being co-hosted by the British Council of Pakistan and the Higher Education Commission (HEC). Not only the Vice-Chancellors of the universities across Pakistan but also Zartaj Gul, the Minister of State for Climate Change, Dr. Shaisa Sohail, the Executive Director HEC, and Amir Ramzan, Country Director, British Council of Pakistan were a part of this ceremony.

Shafqat Mehmood emphasized the leads of the universities to develop the mind of the students and give skill training to them as a compulsory part of their degree programs. He talked about this because he knows how the demands of the employer rapidly change. If you’re working in a firm as a graphic designer and along with your job, your boss asks you to handle their social media for marketing, what will you do?

This crazy upgrade in Pakistan’s education system will bring a huge change in the mindset of people and actually make them skillful enough to be versatile while performing their duties.

The News Doesn’t Just End Here!

Remember, there’s no way you acquire great skills without building your personality/character. Considering this statement, Shafqat Mehmood also insisted the leads of the universities focus equally on the character building of the students. This will not only build you as a person and make you prominent professionally but also improve your social life.
